Published on October 20, 2021, Simon Ngige and Deo Akope have taken the lead at the Safari Tour Golf Series.
Ngige, a professional golfer from Thika Sports Club, and Akope, the captain of the Professional Association of Uganda, both scored a two-under-par 211 gross round to tie at the top of the leaderboard.
Ngige, who was in second place after the second round, improved his score with a one-under-par 70 gross, while Akope, who was in fourth place, shot the day's best score of three-under-par 68 gross.
Ngige expressed his satisfaction with his game, stating, "I'm happy with my game. I have a game plan and will continue keeping the ball in play as we tackle the final day."
Akope also shared his thoughts, saying, "I played a relaxed game, trying to enjoy every bit of it and my parting is fine. I have played the Nyali Course many times and it's fantastic. I will be happy to win the event which will be good news to my people at home especially the amateurs."
The 22 golfers who made the cut will compete in the final round for the prize money and points towards the "The Road to the 2022" Kenya Open Championship.
