Ken Okoth's Cancer Battle: Nairobi MP Visits Kenya's Ambassador in France ¶
Kenyan MP Ken Okoth has been a beacon of hope for many, but in recent times, he has added another feather to his cap by being open and honest about his battle with cancer.
Okoth, who has described himself as a devout Christian and a man of strong faith, has been open about his cancer diagnosis and has been undergoing treatment.
On July 4, 2019, Okoth visited Kenya's ambassador in France, Judy Wakhungu, to show that his condition has not hindered his work and that he remains committed to his duties as an MP.
During the meeting, Okoth discussed various issues, including education and sports diplomacy, with Wakhungu.
Wakhungu praised Okoth, saying, "I have met Ken Okoth (Kibra). He has briefed me on many issues and his plans for education and how he wants to expand it to reach more students. He also considers using sports diplomacy to promote the aspirations of students."
Okoth's visit to Wakhungu's office was a significant moment in his cancer journey, as it showed that he remains committed to his work and is not letting his condition hold him back.
Many Kenyans have been inspired by Okoth's courage and determination, with some taking to social media to express their support and admiration for him.
"It's great to see Ken Okoth! Congratulations, honorable, you are a strong man. People with weak faith should take a cue from you," said Njoroge wa Ngugi.
"I respect a man with inner strength who is not a hypocrite. I salute you, Ken, wear your crown!" added Muchiri Karanja.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko also sent a message of support to Okoth, saying, "Cancer is a serious disease. The most important thing in fighting it is not to lose hope...our prayers are with you, Ken Okoth."
Okoth's cancer diagnosis has been a significant challenge for him, but he remains determined to fight the disease and continue with his work.
