Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has come to the defense of the Mashujaa celebrations invitation list, which has been at the center of controversy in Kirinyaga County. Speaking in Ndindiruku, PS Kibicho revealed that the national celebrations committee gave the governor's office 300 invitation cards, double the 150 that Governor Anne Waiguru had claimed to have received in a section of the media.
According to Kibicho, the other leaders, including the woman representative, received five cards each. He emphasized that the Kirinyaga governor has been fully involved in the preparations for the fete from day one and is part of a WhatsApp platform where communication was being done.
PS Kibicho also pointed out that there was a deadline to hand over names to the Government printing press for inclusion in the final list, and those who had failed to meet it should not blame the organising committee. "We said in every location we needed five names agreed between MCAs, chiefs and their assistants," Kibicho added.
PS Kibicho was accompanied by Infrastructure Principal Secretary Mwangi Maringa, Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici, and senior government officials from the county.
