EU Announces Grants for Kenyan Youth and Women ¶
On October 16, 2021, the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) released a poster calling for grant applications, which will close on October 28, 2021.
The European Union, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (Danida), the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC), has announced grants worth Ksh5.1 billion for women and youth-led businesses in Kenya through the AgriBiz Programme.
The programme aims to empower youth and women-led businesses across the 47 counties, create over 17,000 jobs, and support local agricultural businesses in the country.
Successful applicants will receive funding through two types of financing: Proof-of-Concept grant financing (POC) and Result-Based funding. The POC grant financing will provide funding from Ksh257,397 (Euro 2,000) to a maximum of Ksh1,286,968 (Euro 10,000), while the Result-Based funding will provide funding from Ksh643,493 (Euro 5,000) to a maximum of Ksh1,930,480 (Euro 15,000).
Applicants will also receive technical support to grow their businesses through various training programs.
Interested applicants are advised to make their online application by visiting the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) AgriBiz website or submit physical applications through various Business Incubation Hubs (BIH) located in Machakos, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Isiolo, Kilifi, Kiambu, Bungoma, and Meru.
