Kenya, a country known for its eccentric characters, has once again taken the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. As President Uhuru Kenyatta aptly put it in 2019, 'Ile Upuzi ambao uko Kenya ni mwingi' – The nonsense that exists in Kenya is immense.
One such character is Reverend Samson Muthui of the ATG Deliverance church in Mwiki, Kasarani. He has caught the attention of Kenyans on social media with a rather interesting poster inviting believers for a service on July 7, 2019. Dubbed 'New Currency Dedication Service', the theme of the service was a financial breakthrough.
Church-goers were required to carry two notes of the same denomination of the newly-launched currency notes. This request has sparked outrage, with many questioning the motives behind such a request.
As one social media user aptly put it, 'You simply can't make this stuff up.'
