Corruption Scandal Rocks Telkom Kenya's CIH Project

Kenyan authorities have launched an investigation into the Constituency Innovation Hub (CIH) project, a multi-million shilling initiative aimed at providing ICT centers and internet connectivity to rural areas.

At the center of the scandal is Telkom Kenya's Head of Public Sector, Jessy Kiveu, who has been accused of brokering the procurement of containers for the project at exorbitant rates.

According to sources, Kiveu has been using the project to raise money for his gubernatorial ambitions, with the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of ICT, Jerome Ochieng, allegedly using the project to fund his own political aspirations.

Other officials implicated in the scandal include Telkom Kenya CEO Mugo Kibati and his Chief in charge of Public Sector, Julius Cheptiony.

The CIH project has been criticized for its lack of transparency and accountability, with many questioning the use of public funds for the initiative.

Several government agencies have canceled or refused to renew contracts with Telkom Kenya due to the scandal, including the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Judiciary, and the National Council for Population and Development (NCPB).

Former Telkom Kenya executives have also spoken out against the company's corrupt practices, with many leaving the company due to the scandal.

As the investigation into the CIH project continues, many are left wondering how such a large-scale corruption scandal could have gone undetected for so long.
