On October 14, 2021, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda addressed his cabinet members, reminding them that their salaries do not determine their authority.

Some government officials in Uganda earn significantly more than the president, with some reportedly taking home Sh50 million. However, Museveni emphasized that his salary of Ush 3.6 million (approximately Ksh ) is sufficient for him, and he has even knocked off Ush 700,000 for the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

"I am the president of Uganda. If you want to check my power, you try it," Museveni said, warning those who might challenge his authority.

He added that his salary may be smaller, but there is no doubt who is in charge of the country. "Salary does not equal power," he emphasized.
