On September 29, 2021, the Presidential Taskforce on the Review of Power Purchase Agreements presented its report to President Uhuru Kenyatta, marking a significant step towards addressing the country's energy challenges.
Following this presentation, the taskforce was converted into the Steering Committee on the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Presidential Taskforce on the Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs). The committee will be chaired by John Ngumi and deputized by Dr. Elizabeth Muli.
On October 13, 2021, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang'i, who is also the Chair of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Energy, addressed the media at the Kenya School of Government. He was flanked by Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Amb. (DR.) Monica Juma, and Cabinet Secretary for Defense, Eugene Wamalwa, as well as two members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Energy.
