On October 14, 2021, a tragic incident occurred at Upper Kanyadawa village in Rachuonyo East sub-county, where a two-year-old boy, Gregory Otieno, drowned in a well.
The body was discovered by women traders who had gone to wash sweet potatoes at a construction site near Kadongo trading centre along Oyugis-Kisumu road.
Assistant Chief Michael Aoro stated that the child drowned when his parents were away, emphasizing the importance of responsible childcare.
“Nobody knows who was taking care of the child. Let parents be responsible by ensuring there is someone attending to their children when they are away,” said Aoro.
The body was moved to Okita Nursing Home Morgue for postmortem examination, and the police have launched investigations into the matter.
