On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta will arrive at the White House, where he will be hosted by US President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. The meeting comes as the US maintains a level three travel advisory for Kenya, warning its citizens to reconsider travel to the East African country due to COVID-19.
According to a statement by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, the two leaders will discuss the strong U.S.-Kenyan bilateral relationship and the need to bring transparency and accountability to domestic and international financial systems.
President Kenyatta's visit builds on the February 2021 phone call between the two leaders, during which President Biden emphasized the United States' continued commitment to working closely with Kenya to support regional peace and security.
The US State Department has identified several areas in Kenya as no-go zones due to terrorism, crime, and health issues, including the Kenya-Somalia border, some coastal areas, and Turkana County.
