On October 13, 2021, a heinous crime shook Ting'a village in Seme Sub-County, Kisumu. A 34-year-old man, Michael Odhiambo, is accused of killing his mother, Seline Adhiambo, in a brutal attack with a machete.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect attacked his mother after a family dispute, slashing her several times with a machete before fleeing the scene. The victim died instantly, and residents who responded to her screams for help were unable to rescue her.
A police officer who arrived at the scene described the gruesome scene: “She was lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on her head,” he said.
Wilfred Ochieng, a witness, expressed shock and outrage over the incident, saying, “We do not understand why he had to commit that heinous act. We hope the suspect will be brought to book.”
County Commander Richard Ng'eno assured the public that the police were on the suspect's trail and would ensure he is brought to justice. “The motive of the killing has not been established,” he said.
