On October 10th, 2021, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Moyale apprehended Isaack Hassan, 24, and his accomplice, Mohammed Ibrahim, 24, while they attempted to escape the police dragnet.
The suspects are believed to be the masterminds behind a motorbike theft syndicate that has been responsible for the increased disappearance of bodabodas across the country.
During the arrest, the police recovered over 350 motorcycle logbooks, number plates, assorted sales agreements, and delivery notes from a house belonging to Isaack Hassan.
The arrest followed a raid conducted at a store in Eastleigh two weeks ago by Starehe-based detectives, where several dozen new motorbikes that had been stolen from a warehouse in the Industrial Area were recovered.
According to detectives, the motorbikes stolen from various parts of the country find their way to the upper eastern and north eastern counties, where they are sold to bandits for a song.
The suspects are being detained at the Moyale Police Station awaiting arraignment.
