Bunge la Mwananchi 'President' Faces Robbery Charges

On October 8, 2021, Calvin Okoth Otieno, who identified himself as the new President of Bunge la Mwananchi, appeared in a Milimani court in Nairobi, facing charges of robbery with violence.

According to the charges, on August 27, 2021, Otieno and others jointly robbed Charles Ooko Mc'Olonde of a mobile phone valued at Sh6,500 and Sh4,150 cash at City Hall Way in Nairobi. The victim was also allegedly assaulted during the robbery.

Additionally, Otieno was accused of robbing Damon Osawa of two mobile phones valued at Sh49,000 on the same day and time.

Denying the charges, Otieno was released on a bond of Sh600,000 or alternatively pay a cash bail of Sh300,000. The case will be mentioned in two weeks' time.
