On October 9, 2021, the ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru constituted a task-force to review the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines, 2009. The task-force is comprised of 13 media professionals, including former Capital FM Editor Judy Kaberia.

Kaberia, who is currently the Executive Director of the Association of Media Women in Kenya, expressed her gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility to serve the media industry.

The task-force's terms of reference mandate includes identifying gaps or inconsistencies in the existing policy guidelines and proposing specific policy and legislative review requirements.

The task-force will be chaired by Henry Omusundi Maina, the Article 19 Eastern Africa Regional Director, and will be deputised by Dorothy Njoroge, an Assistant Professor of Corporate and Development Communication at the United States International University (USIU).

Other members of the task-force include Information Secretary Judy Munyinyi, Victor Bwire, Dinah Ondari, Wilsson Ugangu, Muiru Ngugi, Christopher Maina, June Chepkemei, Ibrahim Odour, John Munyiri, and Casty Micheni.

The task-force will have the power to hold meetings, public forums, or consultations as necessary to discharge its mandate.

According to the Gazette Notice by ICT CS, the task-force shall prepare and submit a work-plan, progress reports, and a reviewed Kenya Media Policy Guidelines.
