October 8, 2021, marked a night of confusion for Weston Hotel, a four-star property owned by Deputy President William Ruto, after a social media post by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi sparked widespread speculation.

Sudi claimed that bulldozers had arrived in Lang'ata, Nairobi, to bring down the hotel, stating, 'The deep state is indeed cornered. They have today decided to express their fury by attempting to demolish Weston Hotel.'

However, a statement by the hotel management swiftly countered Sudi's allegations, denying any bulldozing plot and assuring guests and the public that operations were running smoothly.

Weston Hotel has long been a subject of debate on social media, with many questioning its ownership of the land on which it sits. In 2019, Deputy President Ruto revealed that the people who sold him the land had acquired it illegally, but he did not know at the time of purchasing.
