Kenya Confirms 218 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Reaches 250,728

Kenya on Thursday, 7th October, confirmed 218 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, bringing the country's caseload to 250,728.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the cases were detected from 6,350 samples tested, raising the total to 2,592,610. The country's positivity rate stands at 3.4 per cent.

Of the new cases, 208 are Kenyans, while 10 are foreigners, with 83 being females and 135 males. The youngest is a two-year-old baby, while the oldest is 101 years old.

Mr. Kagwe also confirmed that 51 patients had recovered from the disease, 21 from the home-based and isolation care programme and 30 from various health facilities. This has increased the total number of recoveries to 243,337.

The Covid-19 death toll rose to 5,178 after three more patients succumbed.

There are currently 850 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,891 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

Additionally, 50 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 34 of whom are on ventilator support and 16 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 282 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 274 of them in general wards and eight in High Dependency Units (HDU).

As of October 6th, 2021, a total of 4,048,667 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, 3,057,307 were partially vaccinated, while those fully vaccinated were 991,360.
