Google has released its list of top searches by Kenyans in June 2019, with the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 being the most searched item.
AFCON 2019, which kicked off on June 21 and ended on July 19, saw the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars, play against Algeria, Tanzania, and Senegal in the group stages.
The tournament's popularity can be attributed to football being one of the most loved sports in Kenya.
Other top searches included the FIFA Women's World Cup 2019, which was hosted by France from June 7 to July 7, 2019.
The Malik Heights fire incident, which occurred in early June and led to the destruction of property worth Sh 600 million, also made it to the list.
June is also the month when Kenyans file their KRA returns, which explains why the KRA portal was searched by a huge number of Kenyans in June.
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) census, which is scheduled to take place in August, also featured in the searches, with many Kenyans looking for information on how to apply for the one-month job.
Other top searches included Father's Day, which was commemorated on Sunday, June 16, and the Google Doodle on June 12 in celebration of the late Dr. Margaret Ogola.
Esther Passaris, the Nairobi women representative, also made it to the list after a feud with Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
A suspected case of Ebola reported in a Kericho hospital in June also sent Kenyans online, making it to the ninth spot.
Finally, the new Kenyan currency launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 56th Madaraka Day celebrations in Narok on June 1, 2019, rounded off the list.
