Bevalyne Kwamboka, a Kenyan chips vendor who gained widespread attention after being criticized for wearing a short dress while working, has set the record straight about her encounter with Senator Millicent Omanga.
According to Kwamboka, Omanga's contribution to her business was minimal, consisting of only Ksh 350, which was allegedly used to purchase waru, a type of snack.
On Twitter, Kwamboka revealed that Omanga gave her Ksh 350 and not a sack of potatoes as previously claimed. She also stated that Omanga brought five umbrellas, took photos, and returned them, giving her only one umbrella and two aprons.
Omanga had earlier insinuated that she had provided Kwamboka with stock and cash to boost her business, saying, 'Bevalyne Kwamboka is now sorted. Umbrella, cash and stock to boost her hustle. Mvua au jua haitamharibia biashara tena. Now let’s go eat those chips.'
However, Kwamboka's account contradicts Omanga's claims, sparking a social media backlash against the senator.
Omanga's actions have been criticized by netizens, with some accusing her of playing with people's situations for PR purposes. A Twitter user, Frank Mtetezi, even linked Omanga's behavior to that of DP Ruto, saying, 'Millicent Omanga should stop being petty and playing with people's situations for PR, unfortunately she has learnt that behavior from Tangatanga bandwagon Cyrus Jirongo has a story on how DP Ruto supplied same 1k T-shirt 10 times, Hata hiyo umbrella anaeza kujia after 2weeks …'
