February 2021 saw the suspension of WPP-Scangroup Plc's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bharat Thakrar, and Chief Finance Officer, Mr Satyabrata, as the board of directors initiated an investigation into allegations of gross misconduct.
According to WPP Group investigations, Mr Thakrar was accused of luring female staff with expensive business trips, only to force them into intimate relationships and pay them for their silence.
The probe also uncovered claims that Thakrar created dummy PR agencies to siphon funds from WPP ScanGroup by invoicing for non-existent work.
However, in September, WPP Scangroup closed the investigation without finding incriminating evidence, sparking concerns about the reliability of the information used to oust the company's founder.
WPP Scangroup stated that the probe did not uncover any material issues affecting the company's financial results for 2020 or its balance sheet as of December 31, 2020.
