Kenya's amputee football team is set to face off in the 2022 Amputee Football World Cup qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, thanks to a generous donation from betting firm Odibets.

On October 7, 2021, Odibets General Manager Dedan Mungai presented a cheque for Ksh1.5 million to the Kenya Amputee Football Federation, which will be used to fund a qualifiers tournament in Nairobi.

The tournament, dubbed the 'Odibets Inter-counties Amputee football championship,' will take place at the City Stadium in Nairobi and will feature a 7-a-side game with a unique twist: players with lower-limb amputations will play on two crutches without any prosthetics.

Speaking at the cheque handover, Kenya Amputee Football Federation Secretary General Peter Oloo expressed his gratitude to Odibets for their support, saying, 'As a federation, we welcome this one-of-a-kind partnership. We are happy to partner with Odibets to support amputee football teams from the different counties. Talents will be nurtured through this weekend’s upcoming tournament.'

Odibets General Manager Dedan Mungai emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, 'We strongly believe that our partnership with the Kenya Amputee Federation will further strengthen amputee football in the country and offer thousands of amputees an opportunity to showcase their talent and create a career out of playing football.'
