Published on October 7, 2021, Fatuma Zarika, the 36-year-old former World Boxing Council super-bantamweight champion, is ready to take on more professional matches next season.
According to Zarika, she is planning to participate in at least three fights next season, with a possible rematch against Yamileth Mercado, the current World Boxing Council super-bantamweight champion of Mexico.
Despite rumors suggesting she is a spent force, Zarika remains confident in her abilities, stating, "You can't stop people from talking whatever they want about you."
She emphasized her focus on preparing for her next three matches, which she believes will be a turning point in her career. Zarika also expressed her readiness to face serious opponents and dismissed claims that she is no longer energetic and competitive.
"The truth is I'm still energetic and ready to face serious opponents, and those peddling lies that I'm a spent force are in for a rude shock," Zarika said.
With her sights set on a possible rematch against Mercado, Zarika is determined to win back the title and prove her doubters wrong.
