Issa Amwari, a Premier Class driver, is optimistic about his chances in the seventh round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) in Nanyuki this Saturday. He believes that being seeded first will give him an adrenaline boost to make an impression.
Amwari will be behind the wheel of a soaped-up Mitsubishi Evolution 10, navigated by KCB Bank Group Customer Experience Director Job Njiru. The duo returns to their home rally, where they will face stiff competition from other frontrunners.
Defending champion Baldev Singh Chager (VW Polo R5), Voi winner Karan Patel (Ford Fiesta R5), and five-time Safari winner Carl 'Flash' Tundo, Eric Bengi, and Jasmeet Chana will be among the competitors.
Amwari expressed his excitement about the rotational seeding system, which gives him a new experience of being placed in front of fellow Premier Class speedsters. He also acknowledged that starting first after missing out on Ramisi last month might not be an advantage, but he is looking forward to an honorable placing.
Preparations are in high gear ahead of the Nanyuki Rally Group (NRG) organized round. Clerk of the Course Gopi Bharat Pattni confirmed that reconnaissance and pre-event scrutineering will be held on Friday, October 8.
The rally will feature a new route, with the two main stages being run in Ole Naishu. The event will start at the Graystone Service Park, and the 78.02km three-stage loop will be repeated twice.
Organizers are expecting wet conditions, as rains are common in the area in the afternoon. The first stage is Mlima Hema, which is 28.56km long, followed by the 41.51km Ole Naishu stage and the 7.86km Super Special at Graystone.
