On October 6, 2021, a tragic event shook a residential flat in Nakuru's Freehold Estate. Paul Ochieng', 40, is accused of stabbing his wife, Njeri Kamande, with a kitchen knife in a domestic dispute.

According to eyewitness Cyrus Wanyonyi, a guard at the flats, the couple returned home around 10 pm after a night out in town. Wanyonyi reported that the couple had been arguing and had left their children alone in the house.

"It was unlike Njeri to pass me without greetings. They were not talking to each other," Wanyonyi said, recalling the couple's behavior that night.

Minutes later, Wanyonyi heard a commotion and found the couple's door locked. He then heard the children crying, saying their mother was bleeding. Ochieng' then allegedly attempted to take his own life by jumping from the fourth-floor balcony.

Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander Elena Kabukuru confirmed the incident, stating that Njeri was already dead by the time the police arrived. "We managed to rescue the two children from the house. Njeri was lying lifeless in a pool of blood with a stab wound on the right side of her chest," Kabukuru said.

The police boss added that Ochieng' survived the fall but sustained injuries on his legs. He is currently under police guard at Nakuru Level Five Hospital, where he is recuperating.
