On Wednesday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in Afraha, Nakuru Town East, where a 40-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before jumping off the balcony of their apartment.

According to Nakuru Town East Sub-County Police Commander Elena Kabukuru, the couple had been engaged in a domestic dispute, which ended in the suspect, Paul Ochieng, stabbing Mary Njeri Kamande, 20, in the right part of her chest.

The victim died on the spot, and Ochieng attempted to take his own life by jumping from the fourth floor balcony, but miraculously survived with broken limbs.

Police took Ochieng to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital for treatment, where he remains. Once discharged, he will be charged with murder.

A kitchen knife suspected to have been used in Njeri’s fatal attack was recovered by police, and the couple’s twin children, aged five, have been taken in by their neighbours as authorities trace Njeri’s relatives.

The body of the victim was taken to Nakuru Municipal Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
