Wema Sepetu, a Tanzanian actress, has been a subject of controversy in recent weeks. On July 4, 2019, she was released from Kisutu Court after being charged with distributing explicit content online.
However, her freedom was short-lived as she was rearrested minutes later while leaving the court premises.
According to Global Publishers, the court had initially dropped the charges against Wema, citing a lack of evidence. However, TUKO.co.ke could not establish the reason behind her second arrest.
"Wema has been released and the case against her has been dismissed. She was facing charges of distributing explicit content online," Wema's lawyer stated.
Wema was seen in a video circulating online, seemingly mocking the police by wearing a yellow uniform minutes after her release.
It is worth noting that Wema was arrested two weeks ago for defying a court order to attend a hearing in her case.
