On Monday, Harambee Stars will depart for Morocco to face Mali in a crucial 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier, with coach Engin Firat at the helm for the first time since taking over in September.

Published on October 4, 2021, Firat's decision to drop nine players from his initial squad has sparked interest among football fans in Kenya.

The dropped players include James Saruni, Samuel Olwande, Frank Odhiambo, Patillah Omoto, Musa Masika, Keegan Ndemi, Reagan Otieno, Ovella Ochieng, and Sydney Lokale.

The travelling squad, announced by Firat, consists of 28 players, with Ian Otieno, Brian Bwire, and Faruk Shikhalo taking the goalkeeping spots.

The defenders include Joseph Okumu, Joash Onyango, David Owino Odhiambo, Johnstone Omurwa, Eugene Asike, Daniel Sakari, David Owino Ambulu, Abud Omar, Eric Ouma, and Bolton Omwenga.

The midfielders are Richard Odada, Lawrence Juma, Ismael Gonzalez, Kenneth Muguna, Duke Abuya, Boniface Muchiri, Eric Zakayo, Phillip Mayaka, and Abdalla Hassan.

Michael Olunga, Henry Meja, and Eric Kapaito make up the forward line.

The match against Mali will take place at the Grande Stade d'Agadir Stadium in Morocco on Thursday, October 7, at 10 pm.
