On October 4, 2021, Family Bank, through the Family Group Foundation, embarked on a significant initiative to equip Kenyan youth with ICT skills. The bank has set aside Sh5 million to support a five-month training program, in partnership with Ada Labs Africa.

The program aims to provide skills development in areas such as animation, software development, artificial intelligence, and data science. This collaboration seeks to build a cadre of tech-enabled youth equipped for the next generation of workers in tech-driven economies.

Family Bank Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Mbithi emphasized the bank's focus on filling skills and employment gaps in various sectors, offering capacity-building platforms to equip youth in various skills, and growing wealth creation opportunities through strategic partnerships.

Ada Labs CEO, John Kamara, added that their mission is to catalyze the technology revolution in Africa by building capacity in key skills that add value to the digital economy and position Africa as a sought-after hub for technology.

The training program will incorporate animation-related programs, Artificial Intelligence programs, software development programs, and more. Experienced mentors from across the world will guide the students, providing hands-on experience and teaching them valuable skills.
