Published on October 4, 2021, Airtel Africa Plc has announced the assumption of office by Segun Ogunsanya as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Segun Ogunsanya, a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in banking, consumer goods, and telecoms, has taken over from Raghunath Mandava who informed the Board of his intention to retire in April.

“Segun has begun his new role as at 1 October 2021 and joined the Board of Airtel Africa plc,” read a statement from the telecom.

With a rich background in leadership roles, Ogunsanya has previously served as the Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Nigeria and held leadership positions at Coca-Cola in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya, as well as Group head of retail banking operations at Ecobank Transnational Inc.

Upon his appointment, Ogunsanya assured that he would spearhead the company’s aim to expand financial inclusion and meet the growing needs of its customers.

“I am looking forward to building on the solid foundations the Group has established for future sustainable growth across Africa. Moving forward, we will invest even more in our network and distribution channels to serve the communities where we operate,” he said.
