On October 1, 2021, the 53rd World Military Shooting Championship (shotgun) kicked off in Lahore, Pakistan, with a grand entrance by Team Kenya.
Representing Kenya at the championships are over 50 participants, including 41 international shooters, who will face off in the shotgun fete.
The event, themed 'Friendship Through Sports,' has brought together participants from various countries, including Russia, France, Latvia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Guinea, Iran, and Palestine.
According to the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the event officially kicked off on Sunday, October 3, with a colourful opening ceremony under the auspices of the IV Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz.
"There was a large number of dignitaries at the event who included the International Military Sports Council (CISM) representatives and the diplomatic community," said a Pakistani military spokesperson.
The championships will feature various shotgun shooting events, including trap and skeet shooting for both men and women, at the Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery.
