Responding officers from the Dandora-based team arrived on the scene just as the thugs were attacking a woman headed home.
The cornered suspects opened fire as they fled, but the officers' response was swift and precise, leaving one suspect fatally wounded.
Two accomplices escaped into a sewer channel and swam towards Njiru, but detectives are hot on their trail.
The woman who was attacked was escorted home safely by the officers, and fortunately, she did not suffer any injuries.
The scene was processed by crime scene detectives, and top DCI and police commanders from Buruburu police division visited the area.
