October 3, 2021, marked a significant turning point for Tottenham Hotspur as they secured a 2-1 Premier League home win over Aston Villa. The victory was largely attributed to the inspirational display of South Korea forward Son Heung-min, who set up both goals for his team.
After three successive league defeats, Tottenham was in freefall, shipping a combined nine goals and scoring only once. However, with Son producing a relentless display, the team looked energized as they emerged from their September slump.
"This win brings us a lot of good energy and the way we played today was different," Son said. "We needed that especially before the international break. It is a good feeling to win this game and go away."
Despite Villa striker Ollie Watkins equalizing with just over 20 minutes remaining, Son's superb run soon after saw Matt Targett score an own goal, securing the win for Tottenham.
Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo praised Son's performance, saying, "I honestly believe there were more goals there for us today, but the production and the way we produced, the way we created was much, much better."
