On October 3, 2021, a video clip of Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, attacking Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, went viral on social media. The clip was deemed odd by many, considering the two leaders are associated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party headed by Deputy President William Ruto.
However, Kenyans.co.ke has established that the clip was recorded in 2016 at a time when the two leaders were on opposing sides. The clip surfaced during a by-election in Rift Valley in which Sudi supported a candidate associated with KANU, while Murkomen was against them.
Speaking to this writer, youth leader Cornelius Rono, confirmed that the clip was recorded in 2016. "That video was recorded in 2016. It was during a Kericho by-election and Sudi was supporting a KANU candidate while Murkomen was against them," he stated.
At the time, Sudi had partially decamped to KANU after falling out with Jubilee and even declared that he was ready to lose his Parliamentary seat. He had also fallen out with United Repubican Party (URP) which was headed by the DP and dissolved after merger with The National Alliance (TNA) and 13 other parties.
