On a fateful Friday night in Bomet County, a heinous crime shook the quiet village of Sugumerka. A 28-year-old woman's life was brutally cut short, leaving her family and community reeling in shock.
According to Kipreres Sub-Location Assistant Chief Robert Katam, the woman's body was discovered just a few metres from her parents' home. The gruesome discovery was made on a night that would change the lives of those involved forever.
Mr. Katam revealed that the woman's body was likely dumped near her parents' home after being attacked and murdered elsewhere. The motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear, but one thing is certain - the woman's life was brutally taken.
Tragedy struck again when the woman's husband was found unconscious in their home. Rushed to Longisa County Referral Hospital, the man's condition was described as critical. Relatives suspected that the man may have attempted to take his own life after attacking his wife.
The couple's relationship had been deteriorating, with the woman fleeing to her parents' home due to the strain. A relative revealed that the couple had disagreed over a loan from a microfinance institution at Mulot trading centre, a dispute that may have ultimately led to the woman's tragic demise.
As investigations into the incident commenced, led by Bomet East Sub County Police Commander Francis Gikeri, the community remains in shock. The woman's body was moved to Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, a grim reminder of the senseless violence that has shaken the village.
