Published on October 3, 2021, a tragic incident shook the residents of Bigsal apartments in Mtwapa's luxury area, Kilifi county.
At around 3am, two lovers, identified as Lucy Nyokabi, 23, and her cohabiting partner, 'Rastaman,' took their lives by jumping from the fifth floor of their apartment.
The guard at the apartment complex reported hearing a loud bang in the backyard, followed by the sound of a car alarm. Upon investigation, he found the man's body on the ground and, shortly after, the woman's body landed nearby.
The guard, in a state of shock, fled to the Mtwapa police station, where he claimed to have seen 'falling ghosts' at his workplace, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Upon arrival, detectives accompanied the guard to the scene, where they discovered the two bodies with multiple fractures.
Further investigation revealed that the couple had been fighting prior to their tragic decision, with evidence of blood on the bedroom floor and a shattered glass table in the living room.
