On Tuesday night, Robinson Manyonge, 30, and his friend Douglas Momanyi encountered three armed police officers on patrol in Big Tree area, Kiminini. The officers, who were enforcing curfew rules, allegedly flagged them down and started beating them.

Momanyi managed to escape, but Manyonge succumbed to his injuries the following morning. His mother, Josphine Anyoso, suspects that the officers may have had a grudge against her son, citing an earlier arrest in September when he was falsely charged with burglary.

Manyonge was out on bond awaiting a court hearing on October 5. The incident has sparked outrage, with the family demanding justice. Kiminini sub-county police commander Francis Tumo has assured that the matter is under investigation and that the perpetrators will be arrested.

“We are pursuing the matter. We will arrest the killers,” said the police chief.
