Launched by Infinix Mobility, the 'Beat Ya Campo' singing competition is an inter-campus competition where students with musical talent compete for amazing prizes and a chance to represent their university at the finals.

The initiative kicked off at Mount Kenya University (MKU) in Thika last month, with auditions also held at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University campuses in September.

On July 5, the final event for MKU contestants will be held, featuring Masauti as one of the judges.

Special performances by Ochungulo family, part of the new sound wave in the Kenyan music industry, will also be featured at the event.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Infinix Brand Manager Mr Qiang emphasized the importance of investing in young people's skills and talents.

“Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don’t understand the language that you’re singing in, they still know good music when they hear it,” he said.

As part of the initiative, Infinix will also conduct a book drive in collaboration with participating universities, donating books to Emmanuel Children’s Home in Kayole and offering internships and a permanent position to students.
