On Thursday morning, bandits launched a deadly attack on Kachiwe community in Niger State, leaving 30 people dead, authorities confirmed.

The attack occurred just 24 hours after three anti-riot policemen were killed and some people abducted by gunmen who stormed the Palace of Emir of Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday.

Niger State Secretary, Ahmed Matane, described the attack as 'heinous and barbaric' from the state capital Minna.

Matane assured that the state government is working to bring an end to the lawlessness caused by the criminals, who are making people's lives miserable.

He appealed to the public to provide the security agencies with credible information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.

State Commissioner of Police, Monday Kuryas, said that investigations into the Thursday attack are ongoing and the perpetrators will be brought to book.

On a separate note, 28 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and 18 of their collaborators were killed by Nigerian military in north east, the epicentre of insurgency.

The Nigerian military carried out a coordinated ground and aerial strikes at Daban Masara in Kukawa Local Government Area of the State, near Lake Chad region.
