On Wednesday night, a fatal love triangle turned deadly in Manyatta, Kisumu, when a 22-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her love rival to death.
The suspect, identified only as Michelle, alias Natasha, confronted Merciline Awino, 21, at Kasawino Market and stabbed her in the left part of her chest at around 8pm.
Awino succumbed to her injuries at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital at 2am on Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, Awino was walking with the man at the centre of the fatal fight when Michelle confronted her.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu East Sub-County Police Commander James Musyimi said a search for the suspect is ongoing, and that the 21-year-old man who was being fought over is assisting with investigations.
