On September 30, 2021, the Kenyan government rolled out a National accelerated COVID-19 vaccination campaign, targeting to vaccinate 10 million people in the next three months.

The campaign, launched in Kiambu, aims to administer 5.8 million vaccines by Mashujaaa day celebrations on October 20, 2021.
The national accelerated COVID-19 vaccination campaign slogan is “kuwa shujaa, pata chanjo tufungue nchi.”
Speaking during the launch, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe appealed to other county governments to mobilize vehicles to reach the unreached in vaccination efforts.
CS Kagwe also expressed concern over the continued inequality in access to vaccines, particularly in the African continent, and urged the global community to stop vaccine apartheid.
UNICEF Country Director Maniza Zaman emphasized the importance of international solidarity and vaccine equity, stating that all COVID-19 vaccines are safe and have been approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Rockefeller Foundation Managing Director Africa Region office William Asiko pledged to continue supporting efforts to end the pandemic, while Kiambu Governor Dr James Nyoro urged residents to continue observing preventive protocols to avoid a surge of new infections.
