On September 30, 2021, Nairobi City Stars announced that left-footed player Herit Atariza Mungai had extended his contract for one more year.

Mungai, who joined Simba wa Nairobi in October 2020, has been a key player for the team, showcasing his skills in the 2020-21 season after transferring from Coast Stima.

"I am humbled to stay on for yet another season at Nairobi City Stars. I look forward to a better one ahead," Mungai told the club's official website.

Team coordinator Samson Otieno expressed his delight at Mungai's decision to remain with the club, highlighting the player's work ethic and humility.

"He is a hard worker and humble player. He was key to the team at the start of last season and was impactful thereafter when called upon from the bench," said Otieno.

With Mungai's contract extension, the team gains more options for the left-back and left-wing positions, further solidifying their lineup.

During the previous season, Mungai accumulated 1,060 minutes from 17 games, starting 11 times and completing nine matches.

As the transfer window continues, Nairobi City Stars has made significant signings, including Lennox Ogutu from Mathare United, Dennis Wanjala from Nzoia Sugar, and Michael Madoya from Tusker FC.
