Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba's appointment as Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has sparked a backlash from Kenyans.

Chiloba's appointment has raised eyebrows, particularly given his past controversies, including being fired from the IEBC in October 2018 for failing to appear before the disciplinary committee to answer audit queries.

Some Kenyans have taken to social media to express their concerns, with political activist Waikwa Wanyoike questioning whether Chiloba's appointment was an accident, given his 'expertise and necessary experience' to deliver the 2022 presidential election.

Former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe, who served with Chiloba, has also weighed in on the matter, stating that the appointment of the new CA-K Director General had sealed the 2022 elections.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has also insinuated that ODM leader Raila Odinga was being played.

CA-K has announced that Chiloba will begin his duties at the authority immediately, describing him as a policy consultant and principle partner with Chil and Kemp consultancy, as well as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
