September 28, 2021, marked a significant shift in the Communications Authority with the appointment of Ezra Chiloba as the new Director General.
Chiloba, a seasoned professional with a strong background in law and management, takes over from Francis Wangusi, who has retired after a successful tenure.
According to a statement by the authority's Board chairman, Kembi Gitura, Chiloba's appointment was the result of a competitive recruitment process that followed Wangusi's retirement.
Chiloba's appointment comes as a surprise, given his past experience with the IEBC, where he was ousted in 2018 following an internal audit report that implicated him in procurement irregularities during the 2017 polls.
Despite this setback, Chiloba has continued to build on his expertise, holding various certifications and diplomas in law, management, and blockchain strategy from reputable institutions such as the University of Oxford and the Kenya School of Law.
