It's a story of resilience and determination, one that has seen a couple turn their lives around after being fired in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Meet a couple who met at a five-star hotel in Nairobi, where they worked as a chef and a waitress respectively. Their paths crossed, and they got hitched, with their 5-year-old son Max already having a gang of friends at school.

However, when the pandemic struck, their lives were turned upside down. They received letters of dismissal, and their business plans were put on hold. But they didn't give up.

They took a trip to their bank, Co-op bank Ruaka, to access a sizable chunk of money that they had been saving for years. This money was enough to keep Max and his friends together and start a food truck business that they had been shelving for years.

But they had to make a choice: either gamble with their life savings to start a sustainable business or eat away at it and try to wait out the pandemic. They decided to take a leap of faith and start their food truck business.

With the help of their bank, they were able to set up an online payment solution that has become the lifeline of their business. Starting a business is not easy, but they persevered, and their hard work has paid off.

Almost exactly a year since they made their first sale, they are just about to break even. They are grateful for the opportunity to turn their lives around and are now convinced that they can adapt to any situation.
