On September 27, 2021, the Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT) announced a blogging challenge for girls, aimed at equipping them with the necessary ICT skills in a digital world.
The challenge, dubbed #GirlsInICTKe Blogging Challenge, was designed by Konza Technopolis Development Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs, as well as Women in Technology by Huawei.
Maureen Mbaka, the ICT Cabinet Administrative Secretary in charge of broadcast and telecommunications, noted that the challenge targets girls mainly in universities and colleges and will focus on areas of interest being championed by the Ministry and Konza Technopolis.
Those willing to participate are encouraged to submit their blogs between September 27, 2021, and October 11, 2021. To send in applications, visit their website at konza.go.ke/online-blogging-challenge-for-girls.
Applicants will be required to fill in their personal details and upload a profile photo before attaching a blog document and eventually submitting.
Maureen Mbaka advised participants to use the program to their advantage, saying, "To all the participants, I am rooting for you. I encourage you to make the most out of this program through tapping into the knowledge and nuggets of wisdom that the trainers and judges will share throughout the project."
