Mombasa Tea Auction Sees Prices Rise Amid Lower Tea Offerings

On 20th and 22nd September 2021, the Mombasa Tea Auction saw a total of 8.1 million kilograms of tea offered for sale, a decrease from 9.7 million kilograms for the same period last year, but an increase from 8 million kilograms during the previous sale.

Of the tea offered, 7 million kilograms were sold, a decrease from 8 million kilograms for the same period last year, but an increase from 6.3 million kilograms during the previous sale.

According to the auction, prices rose, with an average price of $2.13 per kilogram, up from $1.89 during the same period last year and $2.04 during the previous sale held on 13th and 15th September 2021.
