On the weekend, Escalators FC emerged victorious in the Community and Relations Foundation Peace Cup, held at Gatina Primary School in Kawangware. The team secured the win by defeating Dagoretti North Hot Stars FC 4-2 in post-match penalties.
The winning team's spot-kick conversions came from Felix Stero, Collins Gibole, Kevin Roro, and Tyson Onyali. In contrast, only Mark Ojode's effort from Dagoretti North went wide, while Derrick Ochieng and Fredrick Omolo scored for the team.
Before the final match, Dagoretti North had edged out Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) FC 5-4 in post-match penalties in the semis, after both teams had tied 1-1 in regulation time.
Escalators FC had a walkover in the semis against Kenya Police FC, who were busy with their opening Kenyan Premier League tie against Kakamega Homeboyz FC at Bukhungu Stadium.
The Community and Relations Foundation Peace Cup event, themed 'Shaping Peace Together', was supported by legendary athlete Tegla Loroupe and the Kenya Academy of Sports.
Speaking at the event, Loroupe emphasized the importance of peace, especially in the lead-up to the general elections.
The two-day peace initiative brought together participants to discuss ways to live in harmony, featuring guest speakers including Tegla Loroupe, Antony Kamitu, Daniel Juma, Hitan Majevdia, Doreen Odhiambo, and Dennis Wendo.
