Published on September 25, 2021, the first leg of the World Cup under 20 qualifiers saw Uganda's Crested Cranes thrash Kenya's Rising Starlets 7-2 at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
Uganda's Crested Cranes dominated the match, with Juliet Nalukenge and Sumaiya Komuntale scoring a brace each, while Margret Kunihira, Fauzia Najjemba, and Shamirah Naluguya each scored a goal in the first half, securing a 6-0 lead.
Kenya's Rising Starlets managed to score two goals in the second half, courtesy of Shaylene Opisa in the 61st minute and a beautifully orchestrated build-up that led to Opisa's second goal in the 79th minute.
Despite their efforts, the final whistle sealed the scores at 2-7 in favor of Uganda's Crested Cranes.
The Rising Starlets now shift their focus to the return leg match against Uganda on October 8, 2021.
