On a dramatic Saturday, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah scored his 100th Premier League goal, but the league leaders were held to a 3-3 draw by a battling Brentford side.
Salah's milestone goal came in the 54th minute, but it was not enough to secure a win for Liverpool, who had taken the lead twice before the match ended in a thrilling draw.
The match began with both sides creating chances, but it was Brentford who took the lead in the 27th minute through Ethan Pinnock, who stabbed the ball home after a clever free kick routine caught the Liverpool defence flat-footed.
However, Liverpool were level just four minutes later, thanks to a headed goal from Diogo Jota, and they took the lead again in the 58th minute through Salah's 100th Premier League goal.
But Brentford refused to give up, and they levelled the match in the 63rd minute through a header from Vitaly Janelt, who reacted quickly to score after Pontus Jansson's shot hit the crossbar.
Salah had a chance to seal the win for Liverpool in the 77th minute, but he lofted his chip just over the crossbar, and it was to prove a costly miss as Brentford snatched a dramatic equaliser through substitute Yoane Wissa in the 82nd minute.
There was still time for more drama, as David Raya pulled off a superb save to deny Roberto Firmino, and Ivan Toney had what looked to be a late winner for Brentford ruled out for offside.
The draw means Liverpool climb to 14 points after six games, one ahead of Manchester City, who beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the day.
