On September 25, 2021, hundreds of Akorino members from various parts of the country gathered in Gilgil, Nakuru County, to endorse Raila Odinga for the presidency.
According to one of the sect's leaders, 2022 was deemed the right time for Raila to become President after four failed attempts.
"We support Raila's presidential bid. It is time to seek forgiveness and find a common ground as we move forward," the leader said.
The Akorino pastors present prayed for the opposition leader, asking God to make him clinch the top seat. Raila was on his knees when the men of the cloth appealed his case before God.
As Raila continues his presidential campaigns under the Azimilio la Umoja (Declaration of Unity) slogan, he has been moving from one church to another to preach his message, due to limited avenues available to him because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Three weeks prior to this event, Raila fellowshipped at the Bible Fellowship Church in Murang'a County, where Bishop Peter Kamau, the presiding minister, endorsed the ex-Premier for the top seat.
