Gor Mahia, the 19-time Kenyan champions, began the 2021/22 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League on a triumphant note, edging out KCB 2-1 at the Thika County Stadium on September 25, 2021.

Benson Omalla, a talented youngster and Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom product, was the hero for K'Ogalo, scoring a brace in the match. He opened the scoring seven minutes after kick-off, tapping home Samuel Onyango's rebound that had hit the side post.

Omalla was at it again two minutes later, powerfully nodding home Peter Lwasa's corner to give Gor a comfortable 2-0 lead.

However, Henry Onyango halved the deficit when he capitalized on Gor skipper Harun Shakava's blunder to score from close range in the 23rd minute.

The match saw several other notable results, including Bandari FC's 3-0 thrashing of Mathare United, Kariobangi Sharks' 1-0 win over Posta Rangers, and a 1-1 draw between Wazito FC and Talanta FC.
